Luke has been campaigning for his own dog for well over a year now. We told him he'd have to wait until he turned five. So we went to the Humane Society on his birthday and found exactly what he wanted.
The boys and the dog enjoy the back yard together.
The other addition is a recumbent bike for me. I went to Fairfield Cyclery in Cincinnati and my sister in law Laurie helped me test-ride a variety of recumbent bicycles. I fell in love with the TerraTrike Rover. It was the most comfortable ride for me, and a great bonus is that it can be (somewhat) easily turned into a tandem. I indulged and bought the whole kit-and-kaboodle. When it's in tandem mode, I can ride with 6ft 2in Shawn or with 4ft Charlie equally well.
We took the tandem accessory off and I've been riding it to work daily, and learning new "long-cuts" to work so I can spend extra time on my bike.
Thank you to the Lily Endowment for inspiration and funding, to the wonderful people of Harcourt Parish for the time away, to fabulous priests Molly Davis and Don Rogan for leading services, and for the many people who kept us in your prayers during our sabbatical. It really did make my heart sing. I have been refreshed, renewed, and my well is full.Blessings!
