Iona Scenery

My artist friend Jo suggested I keep my eyes open to look for interesting patterns on our trip, and we found so many. These are a few from Iona. It was much sunnier in Scotland than we'd expected, and so we often walked through the beautiful arched shadows above. Ancient streets and walls (below) also provided a beautiful surprise when we stopped to really see them:

The land and water around Iona was...I've not found the words for it. Iona is truly ancient. Really. It's rock is older than fossils. That's almost unimaginable for me. It is obvious that the topography was created by glacial movement. In that way, it echos my beloved Kansas Flint Hills. On the other hand, the Iona geography is much more intense than the flint hills--higher highs and lower lows, more swiftly changing geography. It was fascinating and invigorating.
Rough beaches and pleasant pastures and everything in between.
