Transition: Brittany to Lyon

After a wonderful month in our farmhouse in the tiny village of Kerbors, it was time to say goodbye and move on to the next stage of our journey. We would take two days to make our way to Lyon where we'd pick up our RV for 2 weeks in the Alps and Pyrenees following the Tour de France.
Shawn spent the two days of travel biking Stage 7 of the tour while the boys and I took the car and had our own adventures.
It was surprisingly difficult to find a hotel room for four people. The French laws are very strict and do not allow extra people in standard rooms. After multiple tries, we finally found a lovely hotel in St. Aignan.
I awoke very early the next morning and did Cloud Hands at the lovely riverwalk outside our hotel. It was about 5:30am when this photo was taken. We were quite surprised at how long it was light in northern and central France. It was full daylight by 5:30am and dusk didn't hit until around 10:30 or 11:00pm.

Walking through this medieval village at dawn was delightful. I walked through the grounds of a chateau which was built over hundreds of years and had a variety of interesting architectural styles; I watched (and smelled) through open windows as the bakers kneaded, shaped, and baked their breads for the day; and I enjoyed the colorful triangular flags hung above this side-street:

I was also tickled by this sign:
