During our time in Brittany, we had weekly "Luke Day" or "Charlie Day" where the boys could chose our activities for the day. One day Charlie chose to take a day trip to Brest where there is an impressive aquarium, the Oceanopolis. Above, Luke is telling us about the shark tank.
Below is a nifty penguin exhibit. It begins with a video which is shown to the right of this picture. Then as the video is ending, a curtain is raised and you see the penguin enclosure which has been right beside you.

The touch tank was also great fun. It had the usual assortment of crabs and sea stars, but this one also included anemone and sponges. The sponges were particularly interesting.

One of the pavilions in Oceanopolis is about biodiversity. Near the end of the exhibit, visitors are invited to go into a photo booth and have their photos taken which then are shown on a continuously changing display of the world's biodiversity. (In an odd bit of foreshadowing, our family photo is beside a bunch of jellyfish--which we saw up close and in person during our stay on Dauphin Island at the end of our trip.)
